Understanding Christianity and Mental Health Issues: Truth and Grace in Light of Spiritual Stigmas

Special Workshop Submission

This workshop was presented at Atlantic District LC-MS 2019 Festival of Workshops.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Health Illness, one in four Americans suffer from mental health issues of some sort in any given year. This means that many people in our churches are strug- gling and may feel different or misunderstood in the congregational setting. This workshop will identify myths that increase and perpetu- ate stigmas for Christians suffering from mental health issues within the Church. It will also highlight Biblical spiritual truths to denounce these stigmas and allow healing to begin.
