At St. James Lutheran we have a Sunday school beginning at age 3 and going through to grade 6.When the crisis hit and the services were put online, we decided to encourage families to worship together at home and provided them with a Sunday school page. For the older grades of four and five, we did a weekly zoom call with three teachers taking turns planning and leading it.For grades 3 and under they could go to the Sunday school online page. I make a weekly video of the story. I have varied this with dress up clothes, puppets and props. Here are some samples. I asked a young man of the church to film and edit for me.Mothers Day May 10th

After the message, there are discussion questions, a craft or activity, a song led by the pastor and I or a youtube video song followed by a prayer. Here is a link to the page

This week we will be ending with a Sunday School End of Year Drive By Party.Families will come to the parking lot at 10 am in their cars and follow a prescribed driving route. They will pass by balloons and banners with music and the church staff waving. They will then pass by their teacher who will hand them a Blessing bag. Each bag contains an age appropriate Christian book, a water bottle with the Sunday school logo on it, a personalized note from their teacher and some candy and chocolate.

Here is a link to the flyer. The summer children’s program will be a simplified kids and parents page but with a Youtube cartoon Bible story in order to minimize the work load over the summer.
